9.30 – 10:15 – Recent genetic advances in understanding breeds and their unique characteristics: Breeds’ skeletal structure and coat; breed and mixed breed tests; molecular genetics. Simple approach to hereditary diseases and predispositions: Mode of inheritance, onset and severity of disease; organs involved; disease progression
10.15 – 11.00 – Tests in diagnosis of hereditary diseases made simple for the clinician: Radiographs, ultrasound, routine laboratory tests, special biochemical & DNA tests
11.00 – 11.15 – coffee break
11.15 – 12:00 – Introduction into the Clinical Approach to Anemia – Clinical signs & diagnostics including blood smear, hematology analyzers, other clinical tests
12:00 – 12.45 – Blood loss Anemias and Bleeding Disorders – Diagnosis & Management of anemias associated with blood loss, thrombocytopenias, von Willebrand disease, and acquired and hereditary coagulopathies.
12.45 – 13.45 – lunch
13.45 – 14.30 – Hemolytic Anemias – Diagnosis & Management of immune-mediated hemolytic, infectious, toxic and hereditary hemolytic anemias. Focusing on immune-mediated hemolytic anemias
14.30 – 15.15 – Canine Transfusion Therapy – Indications, blood groups, blood donor screening, blood collection and administration, components and transfusion reactions.

15.30 – 16.15 – Therapeutic interventions and control of hereditary diseases: Specific treatments; appropriate screening programs, registries and breeding practices and genetic counseling for the veterinary clinician
16.15 – 17.00 – Feline genetic diseases – Peculiarities and unique disorders in cats will be discussed
